Episode Overview
Gulfshore Air Conditioning & Heating Marketing & IT Manager, Krista Landen, has seen first-hand that business progress can be a marathon and not a sprint.
To thrive and keep building on successes, a company has to be persistent, consistent, and always willing and open to changes in the marketplace.
“I never walk away a single day without learning something, and that just fuels me,” Landen says. “I know that every day I'm going to wake up, clock in, and learn something that I didn't know yesterday.”
Gulfshore Air Conditioning & Heating closed out 2011 doing $1.2 million in sales and over the last decade has steadily climbed to $5.5 million, Landen says.
Recently, Gulfshore added the ServiceTitan platform and rolled out a new membership plan. Innovations have bolstered the company’s standing and built up an already stellar reputation in the community.
“We are the AC company that everyone comes to when the other company can't solve the problem,” Landen says.
She points out that being able to make and scale internal changes in a service-industry company requires people skills and an abundance of communication.
“When we want to change, we have those conversations openly and honestly so that everyone feels like their voice is heard,” Landen says.
Of course, good managers let voices be heard but also make tough decisions about policies and course of action.
“At the end of the day, we may choose not to go with their voice and not make the change,” Landen says. “But at least they know that they have a voice.”
Either way, attention to detail and willingness to listen and learn are what move a company forward, she believes.
