Wooed in Waco: How a Franchise Partner Helped to Transform a Business

March 19, 2024

Episode Overview

Rebekah Hatcher and her husband built up a solid and steady HVAC business in a small Texas town.

They faced adversity in the beginning, but were always able to overcome obstacles. The entrepreneurial couple’s business lasted nine years – a successful run for most start-ups.

Then they hit a plateau and started considering other options.

They were wooed by Waco-based Aire Serv. Intrigued, Hatcher says they cautiously spent many months debating the pros and cons of running a franchise business.

Today, Hatcher is the owner of Aire Serv of Aggieland. She says making the switch has boosted the business, though it wasn’t always an easy road.

“Anyone considering going into a franchise, I will say [that] if you think it's going to be easier than what you were doing before, that is a lie,” Hatcher says. “It is not a magic wand.”

She adds that, now that success is at hand, work brings a purpose to her life.

“If you have a passion for what you do and you share that passion with the people you work with, your family, [and] with your customers, you can see it, and it comes through,” Hatcher says.

She says passion for the job needs to go hand-in-hand in the workplace with two other key values: respect and integrity.

“Respect each other,” Hatcher says. “Act with integrity. Make sure that you put yourself in other people's [shoes] when you're having issues with them.”

Sound advice for any business, regardless of corporate structure.
