At Pantheon 2025, we sat down with Jessica Woodruff Smith, co-owner of Boxed for the Trades, to break down Touchless Accounting, a core ServiceTitan feature that eliminates the headaches of batch posting and manual exports.

What is Touchless Accounting?
Touchless Accounting is a core product feature in ServiceTitan that syncs your QuickBooks and ServiceTitan accounts every two minutes. It replaces the batch post export process.
“Once you batch post export, it's in QuickBooks,” Woodruff Smith says. “And sometimes it can take days, weeks, or longer to get there. And once you've hit export, there's no more changing it. You would have to do an adjustment invoice, and it’s a really big headache.”
With Touchless Accounting syncing almost in real time, any time you need to update an invoice summary in ServiceTitan, the data flows back to QuickBooks.
“It will be as accurate as possible every two minutes, so you can run your P&L [profit and loss statement] and know where you are right now and not where you were two days ago when you exported everything,” Woodruff Smith says.
Why Do Matching Accounts Matter?
Without Touchless Accounting, there’s a lot of room for human error when it comes to reconciling ServiceTitan and QuickBooks. And most people Woodruff Smith spoke to at Pantheon 2025 knew their records didn’t match. She even wore a lanyard with a $100 bill she’d offer to anyone whose accounts matched.
When numbers are wrong in QuickBooks, it directly affects how much you pay in taxes.
“If you're not paying enough now, you're gonna pay more later,” Woodruff Smith says. “If you're paying too much now, maybe you're never gonna fix it and get that money back.”
How to Set Up Touchless Accounting
To access Touchless Accounting, ask your CSM to turn it on for you. Then it’s time for some cleanup to make sure it’s set up properly:
Ensure AR [accounts receivable] balances are correct
Ensure GL [general ledger] balances match between ServiceTitan and QuickBooks
Map business units in ServiceTitan to classes in QuickBooks
Go into journal entry settings and switch to the sync journal entries method
“With touchless, you can have errors, but it's pretty much limited to general ledger
account name doesn't match or your business unit got disconnected from QuickBooks,” Woodruff Smith says. “I have not seen a sync error at any of the companies I've helped with this beyond those two errors. It’s almost set it and forget it.”
The reason there are limited errors is because you’re only pushing your general ledger information. If you choose detail, your customers will push to QuickBooks, but that’s not necessary. In fact, it can actually force you off of QuickBooks.
“ServiceTitan can be your accounting sub-ledger. You can go see your total balance in QuickBooks, and if you need to see the transactions that make this up, you can go back to the journal entries and see it in ServiceTitan,” Woodruff Smith says. “This way, you don't hit customer limits in QuickBooks. Don’t size out of QuickBooks the way some companies do. You can use QuickBooks to an unlimited revenue number if you're using this, whereas if you're just batch post exporting, you can size out.”

Touchless Accounting is a core product feature available to all ServiceTitan users. As far as who should use it, Woodruff Smith notes it’s for everyone.
