Overwhelmed by Software? This Is Your Reset Button

January 13, 2026

Episode Overview

Tech clutter is everywhere and contractors are drowning in it. That needs to be rectified, according to Powerhouse Consulting co-founders Jenny Benbrook and Pam Duffy.

The duo know it’s easy to get lost chasing the next shiny object.

“The most successful business owners are disciplined enough to quiet the internal chatter of shiny object syndrome and stay focused on their technology strategy,” Duffy says.

Powerhouse Consulting’s co-founders are strong believers in the power and ability of ServiceTitan to fulfill tech needs.

“The beautiful thing about ServiceTitan is that it continuously evolves,” Benbrook says. “But that also means contractors need to stay on top of it.”

ServiceTitan feels like a lot because it is a lot, Benbrook adds.

“And as with any technology, it’s completely normal to bring in professional services to help get the most out of it,” she says.

If a contractor is using multiple tech tools it’s possible there is overlap occurring, Duffy says.

“When you sit down and you're forced to list out of the platforms you’re using, that's when you'll start to see redundancies, gaps, and whether you're paying too much,” Duffy says.

Benbrook says business owners should consider technology just like marketing.

“It’s a growth lever for contractors today if it's being utilized correctly,” she says.

Whatever tool you’re using, there’s an easy way to determine if it's working the way you need it, Duffy says.

“If you're not able to take data from a tool and be able to make decisions on it, it's probably not the right tool for you,” Duffy says.

Jenny Benbrook and Pam Duffy recently joined ServiceTitan’s Jackie Aubel on the “Toolbox for the Trades” podcast, which included their thoughts on:
