Homepros Knows: What’s Moving the Needle in the Trades

July 1, 2025

Episode Overview

One way to stay ahead of trends shaping the trades is to follow Editor Alec Stevanovski’s digital news reporting on Homepros.

The site offers timely, insightful stories about topics germane to home services professionals – like rising equipment costs, supply chain pressures and the impact of new tariffs.

As conglomerate’s became a bigger part of the scene, Stevanovski has spent a good bit of time covering private equity’s effect on the industry.

“There are clearly benefits to what the private equity dollars have done and are doing to the industry,” he says.

He notes that plenty of smaller trade shops can get a boost when partnering with those companies buying up and merging businesses.

As a good reporter, Stevanovski also looks at both sides of the issue.

“We can’t talk about private equity as if it was just one entity,” he says. “There are down sides, too, and there are bad actors that, overall, give it a bad name.”

Going the private equity route should be a case-by-case decision by business owners, Stevanovski says.

“Even as volatility happens in the economy, out in the marketplace and the world…at the end of the day, people are going to do what they need to do to pay to keep themselves comfortable,” he says.

The best news: The trades will continue to be a much-needed part of the economy.

“They’re…mission critical,” Stevanovski says. “The trades keep people and society physically running. Literally running right.”

Alec Stevanovski recently joined ServiceTitan’s Jackie Aubel on the “Toolbox for the Trades” podcast, which included Stevanovski’s thoughts on:
