ServiceTitan surveyed 1,000+ fire FLS contractors to find out how the industry is really holding up. What we found: the market is growing, but margins aren't keeping pace, and the technology most contractors are running on isn't helping.
Key Takeaways:
Revenue is up. Margins aren't. 73% of FLS businesses grew revenue in 2025, but only 36% saw their margins grow with it. The market is busy, it's just not as profitable as it looks.
Slow invoicing is a working capital problem, not a customer problem. The average FLS business takes around 50 days to turn a completed job into cash. Disconnected systems between the field and office are the number one named cause of invoice delays, cited by 43% of contractors.
Most businesses are still running on a patchwork of tools. Only 15% of FLS contractors describe their systems as fully integrated. 70% are still running spreadsheets alongside their core software, and the gaps are showing up in collections, reporting, and cash flow.
AI adoption is picking up fast, and ITM is where it's landing. Only 30% of the market is currently using or piloting AI, but another 30% plan to adopt within the year. The top use cases are all ITM workflows: deficiency quoting, inspection scheduling, and documentation.
