The first time Veton Hashani attended a ServiceTitan Toolbox Live finance workshop, he went alone.
Climate Heroes Air Conditioning had five employees at the time. Hashani wasn't an accountant, didn't employ one on his staff, and wasn't entirely sure what he was walking into.
He found out quickly. The room was full of CFOs and controllers working through financial features in ServiceTitan at a level that was, by his own description, over his head.
He listened. He learned what he could. He went home.
Two years later, in May 2026, Hashani came back.
Climate Heroes now has 50 employees, hit $10 million in revenue in 2025, and is targeting $15 million in 2026. This time, Hashani brought his accounting team. His people understood the material, asked the right questions, and came home with a list.
"We took so much from this Toolbox that we've got three, four different meetings now scheduled to talk about all the different things we learned and how do we implement those into our business," Hashani said.
That list starts with touchless accounting.
Worth the trip
The ServiceTitan Toolbox Live Finance Edition ran two days at ServiceTitan headquarters in Glendale, California. The agenda covered the full arc of financial operations for a trades business: invoicing, billing, profitability, service agreements, payroll, accounts payable, financial reporting, and accounting integrations.
Hashani's team didn't know touchless accounting existed in ServiceTitan until they sat through the Day Two session led by Gene Jaeger, ServiceTitan's group product manager for accounting. The session walked attendees through how ServiceTitan automates the movement of financial data between the platform and a contractor's accounting system, eliminating the manual export process that costs back-office teams significant time each week.
ServiceTitan data shows the touchless accounting approach delivers a 95% reduction in time to export data and a 99% reduction in unique export errors for QuickBooks Online users. Auto-batching alone saves approximately eight hours per week.
Jaeger also walked through where the feature has been, what it does today, and what ServiceTitan is building toward — giving attendees a clear picture of the direction without requiring them to be accountants to follow it.
"Just the touchless accounting is going to be worth it for us," Hashani said. "If someone's asking me, 'Hey, would you pay for this trip if you could just learn touchless accounting?' We paid for the travel, the hotels, the Toolbox. Just touchless accounting is going to be worth it for us."
Job costing came out of the Managing Billing and Profitability for Success session. For a company growing as fast as Climate Heroes, understanding the true cost of every job — labor, materials, overhead — is the difference between revenue that looks good and revenue that actually is.
Day Two also included a fireside chat with ServiceTitan Co-Founder and CEO Ara Mahdessian on the future of financial operations, AI, and automation. For Hashani, who has followed Mahdessian's vision for the company closely, the conversation reinforced something he already believed.
"I'm a big believer in the leadership, Ara and (Co-Founder and President) Vahe (Kuzoyan), their vision for the company and for the industry," he said.
The best part isn't on the agenda
Hashani has been to three Toolbox Live events now. He'll tell you the sessions are valuable. He'll also tell you they're not the whole point.
Toolbox Live draws contractors who are serious about their businesses — people already using ServiceTitan at a high level, already asking hard questions, already looking for the next thing to fix. Hashani finds those people and talks to them.
"My favorite thing about this is, yeah, ServiceTitan and the things you guys show us, that's great," he said. "But the best part for me is what's happening in our industry. You get to meet the best contractors, and the best contractors are going to these Toolbox Lives."
The format helps. Toolbox Live is a small, structured event. Conversations happen in sessions, over lunch, at the evening reception. People share what they're doing, how they're using ServiceTitan, and what's working.
"It's a small, intimate setting so people are sharing their ideas and what they're doing," Hashani said. "I get the most out of just talking to the contractors and how they're utilizing ServiceTitan."

Coming back different
There's a version of the Toolbox Live story that ends with a list of features Hashani learned about. That's not the story he tells.
The story he tells is about a guy who showed up to one of these events when he had five employees and no accounting team, sat in a room full of people operating at a level he hadn't reached yet, and filed it away. Then he built the company, hired the people and came back with two members of his accounting team, ready to use what the room had to offer.
"Two years later, I have a better understanding,” he said. “But we now have professionals here that completely understand the accounting side."
The meetings are scheduled. The work starts now.
