When Nolan Link decided to work with his brothers, Nathan and Evan, at Link Roofing in Southwest Pennsylvania, his roofing knowledge was … limited.
“None. Zero,” he said. “I thought a roof was, slap some shingles up there and call it a day.”
He did have experience selling refuse trailers and windows, and felt ready for anything – except, maybe, how fast the business would grow.
Last summer, Link Roofing was acquired by LB Capital and is now part of Planet Roof. Business has been booming since the merger, and Link believes changing software from JobNimbus to ServiceTitan is a big reason why.
“To scale a business, I don't think JobNimbus would've worked as efficiently,” he said.
According to Link, Planet Roof’s gross monthly income has more than tripled, from about $500,000 in late 2024 to $1.5 million this spring.
Though JobNimbus was sufficient when the Links were a smaller operation, they faced challenges as they scaled—for example, they used a second platform for their quoting needs.
“We are growing now, and we're doing really well. ServiceTitan has helped us with that scalability,” Link said.
“On a large scale, I think it’s a cleaner platform.”

Easily access information
The first big difference that Link noticed when he switched to ServiceTitan was the accountability built into the software.
Pre-ServiceTitan, Link never had to close out a lead. Now, the software forces him and each of his team members to be held accountable for their tasks in real time.
“Now I leave an appointment, I (close out a lead and) can do it in two minutes. (I) add all my photos, add notes, close it out, done.”
In an industry where every project has quirks, having all of the information easily accessible for everyone on the team has been huge. Especially when a quick answer is needed.
“If I get questions I can’t answer for a customer, I can upload my photos, call (the office) and say ‘you see what I’m looking at here?’ Then we can find the best solution.”
Link’s other favorite ServiceTitan features?
Spec-based estimate templates: “There's a certain set of parameters that I have to enter in forms now. Is it a 4/12 pitch, 6/12 pitch? How much of that roof, in square, is it? What's your eaves in linear feet? I enter all that, and it spits out my estimate, which is really convenient. We're now much more accurate on our cost. A lot more competitive.”
Measurement integrations: “You could have a 14 square roof that has two gable ends, or one that has four hips, four facets. That's going to change material-wise. (ServiceTitan) allows us to be competitive while offering the best products in the industry.”
Easy-to-build proposals: No more switching between platforms like the JobNimbus days. “I use ServiceTitan for building estimates, running an accurate gross profit, finding where we need to be (on price), communicating with leadership. I do all of this with ServiceTitan in a matter of, geez, 15 minutes during a three-hour appointment.”
Filtering previous jobs: “You can date-range it. ‘Let's go first week of March to third week of March,’ and I can filter down to find my customers. Information's power, and I love that I can have it in one centralized hub.”
‘Peace of mind’
Though it’s been a whirlwind ride for Planet Roof, Link believes the company is nowhere near its potential. He said ServiceTitan provides a “peace of mind” that will allow the team to focus on training and growth.
“If I have software that's not operating properly, it'll stress me out,” he said. “Then I stop listening to my customer, and then I look like every other ‘Chuck-in-the-truck’ out there.
“(Great software) separates you when you have a well-oiled machine.”
