How a Two-Year-Old Plumbing Company Is Building Toward $50 Million With ServiceTitan

Jackson Smith isn’t afraid to dream big when it comes to the future of Glacier Plumbing and Hydronics.

The owner and founder of the two-year-old business realizes there’s a long way to go from $2 million and five technicians, but he’s ready to dip his toes in the pool where the major players swim.

“I see all these people that were starting companies, and growing and scaling, and I'm like, ‘You know what? It'd be worth giving it a go," Smith said. “And it's played out great so far.”

Smith opened Glacier Plumbing in North Salt Lake, Utah, in 2024. In his first full year (2025), he did $1.3 million in business.

He then decided his software wasn’t providing what he needed, so he moved to ServiceTitan, the cloud-based software with full feature functionality for the trades. In 2026, Glacier’s revenue is projected to reach $2 million with a 20% profit margin, numbers he called “awesome” given the youth of the business.

“There's so much more available than there is with Jobber or HouseCall or any of the competitors. All of them have one or two things that ServiceTitan does, but none of them have all of it,” Smith said.

The short-term goal is to add more team members and get more trucks on the road by the end of 2026. He would love to do $2.5-$3 million in 2027, and reach $5-$8 million in the next five to seven years, then take off from there. His future, he said, will be with ServiceTitan, and he believes larger growth can and will happen.

“Just having the scheduling and the marketing and everything in one place has made a huge difference,” he said.

Smith started in the trades in high school when he took a part-time job at a shop near his former home about a half hour south of Portland. He finished high school and moved to Utah in 2019, just before COVID hit.

With the trades still in demand, he quickly found a full-time plumbing job. While working, he went to school to earn his journeyman’s license. One of the companies that hired him used ServiceTitan, which meant when he made Glacier’s transition to ServiceTitan, he wasn’t learning the platform, he was applying what he already knew.

“There's 10 different ways to skin a cat and the same thing applies to plumbing companies,” he said. “There's how you manage it, how you run it, how you book your calls, how you schedule your work, how you do everything.

“ServiceTitan has the capacity to do all of it.”

Smith said the decision to switch was not difficult because his previous software lacked what ServiceTitan offered. Among the challenges: There was no ability to build a commission structure for technicians, no membership agreements, and a price book that required manual buildout with none of ServiceTitan’s discount/percentage customization.

“We’re about 50/50 new construction vs. service right now, but we're looking to grow the service,” Smith said. “That's where the marketing and everything has been good. We've got a lot of really good data from ServiceTitan as well on the geographics and areas. I love the heat map on what cities we're doing the most business in. That's helped a lot.”

Because Glacier does work for contractors, payment can sometimes depend on the contractor making a draw from the customer’s bank. He said Glacier had $130,000 in receivables on new construction.

“Which is a pain,” Smith said. “But it's been pretty easy to view on ServiceTitan because once we send out that invoice, it populates and it automatically keeps track of the date it was sent and the time aging. We can go in and see, ‘Hey, these people are past due, we need to be in touch with them.’”

The #1 newsletter for the trades.

Smith’s dreams are rooted in the reality around him. He sees other plumbing companies — Any Hour, Rare Breed, Beehive, My Buddy the Plumber — succeeding. Smith said those entities generate revenues in the tens of millions, and even up to $100 million. The common thread: All use ServiceTitan.

“The unique part about ServiceTitan is that it doesn't just work for big corporations, it works for smaller people like me,” Smith said. “Right now we use it and we're doing $2 million a year. When we're doing $50 million a year and we have 30 or 40 technicians or more, we can still use ServiceTitan.

“We don't have to worry about changing software. There's always updates, there's always new things that are coming out on it, and the customization on it can fit any company.

“There's so much more available than there is with any of the competitors.”
