Episode Overview
The Marketing Pro and Scheduling Pro Automation Power Combo
In the most recent episode of the Mastering ServiceTitan podcast, which was recorded live at Pantheon 2025, Samantha Heger, Director of Operations and Marketing at Nixco Plumbing, discusses the synergy between Marketing Pro and Scheduling Pro.
Heger shares her top tips for both Pro products and how their automations work together to supercharge your business operations.
Marketing Pro
Host Josh Lu and Heger kick off the conversation discussing Marketing Pro and its most underrated features.
“My biggest one that I think we underutilized when we started is email automation, and letting the program work for you,” Heger says.
While there’s a learning curve to getting email automation set up, the return on investment is worth the time and effort.
Automated campaign options include:
Membership renewals
Past due invoices
Unsold estimates
Aging equipment
“Having those set up and letting them work for you has been really big for us,” Heger says. “I set it once and go. There’s been positive ROI.”
For someone just getting started, Heger recommends setting up an unsold estimates campaign first.
“Our estimates are good for up to 30 days, so we’ll hit someone the next day with a link to their estimate in the portal,” Heger says. “In another 48 hours, we hit them again. And then nine days after the first one went out. We don’t want them to forget about it.”
Nixco Plumbing also has an SMS reminder that sends before the estimate expires. Because the message they send is regarding an estimate already given, it’s considered a transactional SMS, making it legal to send.
Scheduling Pro
Within a year of being on Marketing Pro, Nixco decided to invest in Scheduling Pro, too.
“I knew to stay ahead and beat competitors, we had to go where the industry was going,” Heger says. “We knew if we didn’t do it, we’d miss out on customers.”
While ServiceTitan has a core product for scheduling, Heger says Scheduling Pro has much more to offer.
“The customization makes it worth it to me,” Heger says. “You can add your logo, colors, and branding. You can have questions built in to control the flow of where your customers are going to get them in the right spot.”
Within Scheduling Pro, you can set your own availability windows. A customer can simply list their issue and choose a day and time window that works for them.
Scheduling Pro is great for booking leads, but make sure your existing customers know they can schedule appointments online, too.
“When we first set ours up, I thought we were going to kill it and get 50 bookings right away,” Heger says. “That didn’t happen, and I figured out it was from a lack of customer awareness. They didn’t know it was there for them, so we did a couple things.”
To inform customers, Heger set up an email and a postcard directing customers to book online. The postcards cost $700 to send and generated $140,000 in sales. Now, a lot of the people who book online are existing customers.
Using Scheduling Pro + Marketing Pro Together
With Scheduling Pro, you can get direct links to the scheduler to include in promotional campaigns. You can even customize the widget for specific job types if you know it’s something your customer needs.
Once you make your scheduling widget live, you can still tweak whenever you want. For example, if you find out a specific question seems to be a roadblock, you can change it or remove it.
“We were previously on Schedule Engine, and it was very basic software. Then we moved to Scheduling Pro, and that even alone increased our bookings,” Heger says. “It’s mobile-friendly. The biggest thing is going where your customers are, and I don't see people giving up cell phones anytime soon.”
In addition to using the Scheduling Pro widget on their website, Nixco Plumbing also puts a QR code to the scheduler on their truck wraps and QR code stickers on equipment in the customer’s home.
Nixco recently added a question to their scheduling widget asking whether the user is interested in a membership. A beta feature Heger is excited about is the automated text campaign for people who abandon the scheduling widget.
“Having a text go out to follow up would maximize the scheduling widget even more,” Heger says.
