In a recent episode of the Mastering ServiceTitan podcast, recorded in-person during Pantheon 2025, Paula Kennedy, Controller at Logan Heating and Cooling, shares how the Miter integration has revolutionized her employer’s payroll process.

What is Miter?
Miter is a construction operating system that specializes in HR, benefits, and payroll. The Miter-ServiceTitan integration is specifically for payroll processes. It syncs timesheets, bonuses, and commissions to eliminate manual data entry and streamline payroll.
From Paper to Digital
Prior to using Miter, payroll was a manual process for Logan Heating and Cooling.
“It was a very long process,” Kennedy says. “We were mainly using Excel spreadsheets. We would get timesheets from techs, input the data into a spreadsheet, then input the data into our payroll system. Once that's done, you have to take your journal entry and enter that into your accounting software.”
The process took several days, but with the Miter-ServiceTitan integration, it can now be completed in just a few hours.
“With Miter, the timesheets come straight from ServiceTitan, so it is completely hands-off now,” Kennedy says. “At the end of the pay cycle, all we do is review the timesheets to make sure everything matches up, there are no errors, and we get the technician's and manager's approval. That gets sent over to Miter automatically. We just review the final payroll and make sure everything looks OK and then submit.”
Integration Tips
To get started with the Miter-ServiceTitan integration, contact your Customer Success Manager (CSM) first.
“Our CSM took us by the hand and walked us through the entire process,” Kennedy says. “He even met with Miter with us on several occasions to help make sure everything was flowing the way it should.”
Kennedy notes there may be kinks at first, but ServiceTitan and Miter offer support every step of the way. Mistakes to avoid, based on their experience, include:
Don’t sync all employee data if you keep potential hires listed in your accounting software.
Don’t include unnecessary activities on your timesheets. It’s easier to add timesheet notes later than remove them.
Logan Heating and Cooling uses the following activities on their timesheets:
Clock in and clock out
Drive time
Working time
Idle time
Paid time off
Unpaid time off
Holiday
Meeting time
Training time
Lean into the strengths of each software.
“ServiceTitan is great with managing idle time and activities,” Kennedy says. “We let Miter manage our PTO, holidays, and overtime, because they have a lot more detail. We know where the strengths are for each system.”
The idle time tracking is strengthened by Fleet Pro, which gives visibility on where a tech is, how long they are at the job, and how long they are sitting idle.
What’s Next for Miter and ServiceTitan?
Kennedy looks forward to future integrations, especially automations for allocating funds to 401Ks, HSAs, and FSAs. She currently does this manually for each technician, every payroll period.
“That way, I don't have to worry about doing those myself anymore,” she says, saving her even more time in the future.
