Why Network Home Services Keeps Referring ServiceTitan—and Why It Pays Off

There are at least 10,000 reasons for ServiceTitan customers to refer the software to other service businesses.

Through its robust referral program, those who refer the cloud-based company can earn $500 if the referred business attends a software demonstration, and up to $10,000 if it joins ServiceTitan.

However, when Network Home Services co-owners Scott and Vicky Irwin referred an incredible 21 businesses to ServiceTitan in one year, they weren’t thinking about cash, prizes, or the new car awarded to the referral program winner each year.

They were thinking about helping everybody win in a difficult industry.

“All trades (businesses) are hard,” Scott said. “So the more people that we help to be successful, the industry wins.”

Network was the first Australian company to use ServiceTitan, making the switch in September 2022. The Irwins, who have been in the business more than three decades, have been ecstatic over the results.

“We want everybody to be able to have it, to be able to succeed (and) grow,” Vicky said.

The Irwins estimate their company, now at almost 200 employees, has quadrupled in size over the past five years. ServiceTitan has helped facilitate that growth, and made the Irwins more confident in future expansion.

And they see no downside to sharing secrets with other shops in a competitive industry.

“We share anything in our business, but it doesn't matter,” Scott said. “People don't really steal a customer, (customers) leave you because they're not happy. If you've got that headspace, you then realize … there's no secret here. 

“I could give the keys to the business to someone else. They'll never run it the same. They don't understand it. Is there competition? Not really. You're better off all working together to get to a common goal.”

To that end, the Irwins have been championing ServiceTitan whenever possible, and their 21 referrals are the most since ServiceTitan began keeping track.

The program is straightforward. Customers use the referral portal on their ServiceTitan profile page to connect the ServiceTitan sales team with a service business that employs at least three technicians and a full-time office employee. Non-customers can make a referral by creating an account in the Referral Partner Portal

If the business is a good fit, the sales team reaches out to schedule a software demo. The more “won referrals” (businesses that sign up with ServiceTitan) a person makes, the more money they can earn. Every won referral for a business with 30-plus techs is eligible for a $10,000 New Titan Reward.

But for Scott Irwin, endorsing ServiceTitan will always be about lifting up the industry he loves.

“No one wants their child to be a plumber or electrician or (work on air conditioning),” he said. “But that is the future. People will always use a toilet. They'll always want hot water or want fresh water. 

“What industry do you want to be in? I can tell you where I want my children to be.”
