The E-Commerce Approach to Digital Marketing in the Trades

The bustling show floor at ServiceTitan’s annual Pantheon conference was the perfect place to talk about challenges and opportunities in digital marketing in the home services trades.

Scorpion Chief Revenue Officer Jamie Adams was there to weigh in on the rise in competition and advertising costs. And why those factors require a sophisticated, data-driven approach.

“ The competitiveness and expensive [factors in digital marketing] are challenges,” he says. “I think the other challenge is just the rise in AI, particularly how consumers are using AI because there’s all this talk that Google is dead and consumers… are going to ChatGPT.”

Adams says more often, consumers are asking AI tools what’s a reasonable cost to pay for a home drain to be cleaned. 

“That shouldn't be a very difficult thing to answer,” he says. “Yet, a lot of plumbers don't wanna answer that over the phone. They wanna send the technician out.”

No, says Adams.

“I think consumers are wanting more information like that,” he says. “And the business owners that respond and come up with a strategy to supply that are probably gonna have an advantage.”

Scorpion and ServiceTitan have joined forces. Adams believes one of ServiceTitan’s tools is a major asset to customers.
