ServiceTitan App Marketplace: Raising the Bar with App Certification

The ServiceTitan App Marketplace is the one-stop shop for adding third-party integrations—apps that adapt and extend our platform, adding new capabilities to help meet your unique business needs. 

Think of it like the App Store on your phone, but for your home services business.

The numbers tell an incredible story. Our App Marketplace has seen explosive growth over the last 12 months, with customer adoption more than doubling year-over-year. Today, more than 70% of customer tenants have transformed how they operate by integrating an app from our Marketplace.

The demand from partners has been equally impressive. More than 120 companies have applied to join our App Marketplace in just the past three months alone.

This growth validates our strategy: to help customers easily adapt and extend the ServiceTitan platform through partner apps.

With Great Growth Comes Great Responsibility

While explosive growth is a great challenge to have, it's still a challenge, deserving of our attention and investment.

We launched this ecosystem with a fully open approach to test demand and determine our future investment strategy. The priority in those early stages was to onboard a large number of partner apps with minimal friction in the process. 

While we maintained responsible standards for basic functionality and security validation, we always knew that significant growth would require deeper investment.

Both customers and partners have asked, and the results are clear: demand is massive, and it's time to step up our game.

Service business owners know that trust takes years to build but can be lost in an instant. As our ecosystem expands, our responsibility grows in tandem. Ensuring quality and reducing risk becomes increasingly critical as we scale.

Several key areas need enhanced focus:

  • Security and privacy best practices should be more thoroughly validated to protect business and customer data.

  • Partner capability claims require more thorough vetting to ensure we can confidently vouch that apps "do what they say on the box."

  • Reliability and performance standards must be rigorously tested to ensure your ServiceTitan platform continues running smoothly.

  • Ensuring that customers’ investment in the ServiceTitan platform becomes more valuable as they add more apps - with a unified user experience and single source of truth for accessing their data.

Growth Investment: Introducing App Certification

We're excited to announce a significant new investment in our ecosystem. The App Marketplace team at ServiceTitan is evolving to meet the challenges and opportunities created by our incredible growth trajectory.

This evolution will enable us to: 

  • Add more high-quality apps

  • Develop deeper partnerships with existing providers, and

  • Deliver enhanced support for all partners in our program

The cornerstone of this investment is our new App Certification process.

Certification means we're dedicating substantially more time and resources to work with our partners, ensuring both the companies and their apps meet our elevated standards. We've built a formal, multi-stage process and hired specialized Solution Consultants to guide partners through certification.

We partner with companies built for the long term—financially sound organizations with proper legal standing and dedicated support teams to serve our customers effectively.

Feasibility

Through collaboration, we align on use cases and document the specific value each app delivers, ensuring it genuinely enhances our platform's capabilities. 

Solutions where ServiceTitan serves as the central hub for data management will be emphasized, ensuring partners build seamless user experiences that eliminate the complexity of multiple logins and fragmented data.

Commercials

We ensure partners are committed to participating in our ecosystem and following its governance standards through certification fees, which help us fund the teams needed, as well as comprehensive legal agreements.

Build

Working alongside partners throughout the development process, we provide regular check-ins to ensure they receive expert guidance from ServiceTitan specialists, accelerating high-quality delivery while maintaining responsible use of our APIs and customer data with security, privacy, reliability, and performance best practices.

Certified

ServiceTitan reviews and tests each offering so we can confidently vouch that the app is production-ready and delivers on all promised capabilities. We’re also able to create detailed App Marketplace listings and make informed recommendations to customers on partners' behalf.

We'll implement regular re-certification cycles to ensure customers never experience disruptions due to changes to our platform or the partner’s app.

Custom Integrations: When Certification Isn't the Right Path

Certification focuses on apps designed for broad distribution across many customers. However, we recognize that some integrations meet more customer-specific needs.

For these situations, custom integrations remain available. These are integrations built by customers or third parties without the goal of wide distribution, allowing customers to get the specific integrations they need without waiting for certification.

→ To build or use a custom integration, customers need "The Works" subscription package, which provides access to all customer APIs.

Note: Custom integrations aren't vetted by ServiceTitan, require development and maintenance from the third party, aren't available for wide distribution, and fall outside ServiceTitan's support scope.

What to Expect Next

We're announcing these changes now so partners and customers can prepare for what's ahead and provide feedback as we implement these improvements. 

The end goal: Every app in the ServiceTitan App Marketplace will be certified.

Here's our roadmap:

Now: Early certification piloting: We're collaborating with select existing partners to refine our process, train staff, and incorporate learnings.

September: Pantheon presence: Customers: Visit our expo hall booth at Pantheon, and Partners: join our partner breakout session on Thursday, September 18th, at 2:45 PM in the Marriott to discuss these changes directly with our team.

October: Rolling certification of existing partners: We'll begin working through certification with our current partners, starting with the most popular apps and those with complex integrations. 

Most partner apps are expected to certify successfully and will be tagged accordingly in the App Marketplace during this process. 

Partners who decline to participate or can't meet certification standards will be removed from the marketplace and considered custom integrations.

Ongoing: All new apps certified: As we certify existing apps, every new partner app entering the Marketplace will complete the certification process before launch.

Early 2026: Marketplace refresh: We're designing an improved user experience to make finding certified apps simpler and more intuitive.

2026: Full certification milestone: Every app in the ServiceTitan App Marketplace will be certified, representing our commitment to quality and trust.
